Exercises with COMPARATIVES in Spanish

Usage: “The general rule is to follow this syntax: más + adjective + que’ or ‘menos + adjective + que.’ However, there are exceptions like ‘mejor que’, ‘peor que’, ‘superior a’, ‘inferior a’.

Examples:

 

  1. Esta película es peor que la primera. (This movie is worse than the first one.)
  2. Mi hermano es mayor que yo. (My brother is older than I am.)
  3. Mi hermana es menor que yo. (My sister is younger than I am.)
  4. Este modelo es superior al anterior. (This model is superior to the previous one.)
  5. El desempeño de hoy fue inferior al de ayer. (Today’s performance was inferior to yesterday’s.)

 

 

Other Examples:

 

  1. Ella es más alta que su hermano. (She is taller than her brother.)
  2. Este libro es menos interesante que el anterior. (This book is less interesting than the previous one.)
  3. Juan corre más rápido que Pedro. (Juan runs faster than Pedro.)
  4. Esta tarea es más difícil que la otra. (This task is more difficult than the other one.)
  5. Mi casa es más grande que la tuya. (My house is bigger than yours.)
  6. Él es menos trabajador que su colega. (He is less hardworking than his colleague.)
  7. La película fue más emocionante que la serie. (The movie was more exciting than the series.)
  8. Ella canta mejor que yo. (She sings better than I do.)
  9. Este coche es más caro que el mío. (This car is more expensive than mine.)
  10. Mi perro es más amigable que el tuyo. (My dog is friendlier than yours.)
  11. La comida en este restaurante es mejor que en el otro. (The food at this restaurant is better than at the other one.)
  12. Hoy hace menos calor que ayer. (Today is less hot than yesterday.)
  13. Este examen es más fácil que el anterior. (This exam is easier than the previous one.)
  14. Mis notas son mejores que las de mi amigo. (My grades are better than my friend’s.)
  15. Ella es más paciente que yo. (She is more patient than I am.)
  16. Este cuarto es más pequeño que el otro. (This room is smaller than the other one.)
  17. Mi café es menos dulce que el tuyo. (My coffee is less sweet than yours.)
  18. El tráfico en la mañana es peor que en la tarde. (The traffic in the morning is worse than in the afternoon.)
  19. Mi hermana es más joven que yo. (My sister is younger than I am.)
  20. Este vestido es más barato que aquel. (This dress is cheaper than that one.)
